The Vintage Sewing Pattern Pledge 2015 - My First Project

A dress from the 1920s is going to be my first project for the Vintage Sewing Pattern Pledge! I have the pattern for a basic dress, and the fabric, which is this rich terra cotta crepe de chine. I've bought some lightweight muslin so that I can sew a toile/muslin in preparation, although it doesn't seem like much alteration is going to be needed.

The dress has an inset and short scarf or tie, and I have not yet settled on what I want to use for those. Decisions, decisions! The dress pattern includes a godet, but I am not inspired to add it. I will think on that too. :) I do want to make a hat to match, though, one from RuthWyeth Spears' tips!

  2. Lovely!! I have been trying to find exactly this type of dress pattern for years. What I'm finding are directions for make your own pattern (i.e. 1 hour dress, 2 hour dress). Is there any way you would consider selling a copy of this?, (please??). I look forward to seeing your dress finished. Please post with photos! The fabric is perfect. Keep us posted. Thank you, Susan

    1. Hello, Susan! I am familiar with the 1 hour dress patterns that are available, as I have one of those also! When I am finished with this pattern, I will be happy to sell it to you! I purchased the fabric in autumn, so it has an autumn feel to it.But I still like it very much.

  3. What a beautiful project, curious to see this finished. And a great idea to make a matching hat for this.

    1. Thank you Ette Ett, I still have not decided on which hat - so many charming ones to pick from! But first, to make the dress!
