1950s Knitted Sweater and Skirt - Supremely Charming!

A dove-gray full skirt + a chartreuse sweater with blouse-styling = amazing hand-knit separates fashion from the 1950s! Can you imagine hand knitting this wonderful ensemble? It IS so very cute, but I wonder how long it would take to knit?

Here is the same skirt with two alternate sweater styles.

  1. Thank you for sharing these wonderful images, I like to collect vintage knitting patterns (and vintage sewing patterns) as they can give fantastic ideas on fashions and overall looks of the time. I cannot imagine how long it would take to knit this great outfit as I am not a 'strong' hand knitter but it is great, so thanks for sharing. Debs*

    1. I also wonder at the sheer length of time (not to mention to great quantity of yarn required!) for this darling ensemble. I think the scarf rather "makes" the sweater-that-looks-like-a-blouse, along with the contrast trim that matches the skirt. :)

  2. This is SUCH a gorgeous ensemble. I couldn't imagine knitting the whole thing up though. Perhaps someday I might venture into making a whole knitted outfit, but that is way on down the road for me. :)
